Yo Momma so…

January 23, 2007 by Matt

My 7th graders in Study Hall are always trying to come up with new things to do instead of actually doing their work.

Today a few of the boys were leaning over the same desk and trying to stifle giggles. This, of course, caught my attention and I investigated the scene. What I found were handwritten Yo Momma jokes on small scraps of paper. I confiscated the few that I saw and am presenting them here unedited.

  • Yo momma is so fat that when she was in space some astroanauts saw her and they thought it was a new planet.
  • Yo momma is so fat that she was on the train tracks and people thought a train was there.
  • Yo momma is so fat that when she was skiing they thought a snowball was coming down.

This Week in Middle School Basketball

January 13, 2007 by Matt

hussle.JPGWe had a game the day after returning from Christmas break and well, you could tell we hadn’t practiced in a few weeks. After a shaky start, we started to get some movement on offense and some good looks at the basket even if we couldn’t get those shots to fall. In any case we were overmatched again by a very good and well coached AIS team, falling to 1-2 on the season.

We have a game coming up next week against ICSB, a Christian school in Budapest, and are hoping to show some more improvement in that game. We’ve been working on some offensive plays, that I’m hoping will produce a little fruit.

Tom Selleck, Eat Your Heart Out

January 7, 2007 by Matt

mustacheuchristmas.jpgI guess this a little late, but here’s the annual VCS single guys Christmas card.

Why mustaches? Well, I mustache you, why not? I’m pretty sure the 70s are making a comeback.

Actually I think I’m going to save the mustache story for another post.

Stay tuned…

MS Basketball Update

January 6, 2007 by Matt

123eagles.JPGThe Middle School Boys Basketball season started off this December with two games before Christmas break. It is a rebuilding year for us as we only have 1 returning player for last year, but I’m excited about the influx of new talent on the team.

We kicked off our season with a win against DIS, but suffered our first defeat in our next game against a stacked AIS team. We’ve shown some progress, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement.

We have another game against AIS this Tuesday, our second day back from school, which isn’t ideal, and hopefully they haven’t forgotten everything over the break.

It’s been great working with this group of boys, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

Bambi Schnitzel?

January 5, 2007 by Matt

Bambi Disney CartoonWhat would Thumper think?

I was at a restaurant when the waitress attempted to inform us of the special of the day?

after a few failed attempts at communicating the special…
Waitress: English?
Me: Yes. (hoping for some clarity)
W:(realizing she doesn’t actually know the correct English word)…umm…do you know Bambi?
Me: (baffled and looking at Trish for help) Bambi, who’s Bambi?
Trish: (before the waitress can elaborate) oh! You mean deer?
W: (relieved) Yes…deer. We have Deer Schnitzel today.
Me: (chuckling) ooooooh…Rehschnitzel.
W: (nodding enthusiastically) Yes, Rehschnitzel.

Of course I only know that the German word for Deer is Reh because of a friend of mine with the last name Rehmeyer.

I’m sure the BambiSchnitzel was delicious, though I decided on another entree. And thus concludes yet another adventure in German.
