Sweaters On The Loose!

June 9, 2007 by Matt

Concert SweaterI own quite a few sweaters which some would describe as something Bill Cosby would wear while others would simply describe them as SICK! Well, it appears that two of my sweaters have broken free from my closet and are currently wandering around Vienna having their pictures taken with minor Viennese icons.

They have also gone through the trouble of creating their own blog to track their adventures: http://freesweaters.blogspot.com/

Please keep a lookout for them or I’m not going to have anything to wear this winter when it gets cold. brrrrrrr.

School’s Out For Summer

June 9, 2007 by Matt

school's outThe books are shelved, the computers off, the files are…filed, and another school year is officially over.  It was a fun year, and I’m really enjoying my classes.  I did a lot of experimenting this year with software and technology I hadn’t used before in the classroom.  As you can imagine some of these experiments turned out better than others, but even the experiments that didn’t go as well as I’d hoped laid the foundation for future classes.  I tried out several Web 2.0 features such as blogs and wikis, and worked in some cross curricular assignments using Audacity and Movie Maker.

I am really excited about fine-tuning some of the projects for next year and implementing some different teaching and learning tools next year.  If you’d like a sampling of some of the projects we did this year, here is a link to my class wiki.

Life Review

May 31, 2007 by kleineklein

This struck me today:

“The next time you pause to review your life and examine your conscience, you might find it beneficial for spritiual growth to move beyond the Ten Commandments and address the following questions:

  • Have I failed to take the initiative in alleviating fear, anxiety, and heartache in my home, my neighborhood, and the local community?
  • Have I had contempt for others: the less educated perhaps, or people of different ethnic, racial, economic, or religious groups?
  • Have I dismissed senior citizens as anachronisms and not tried to make them feel their worth and dignity?
  • Have I in any way stifled the personal development of another?
  • Have I sought to be respected without respecting others?
  • Have I often kept others waiting?
  • Have I carelessly forgotten (or simply not kept) an appointment or a date?
  • Have I been difficult for others to reach, feeling too busy to put myself at their disposal?
  • Have I not paid attention when someone is speaking to me?
  • Have I kept silent when I should have spoken out?
  • Have I responded only to those whose friendship might prove profitable to me?
  • Have I blackened the character of anyone by harmful remarks, whether false or true?
  • Have I betrayed a trust, violated a confidence, or involved myself in the lives of others through indiscreet words and actions?
  • Have I concentrated on what’s in it for me rather than what’s in me for it?
  • Have I failed to appreciate what is because of might-have-beens, should-have-beens, and could-have-beens?”
