Same Voice – New Topic

September 18, 2007 by kleineklein

This is a second journal entry. His writing just makes me smile.

Sometimes I wish things were like in the Bible. That way you can live for like 969 years now that is what I call live long. Sometimes I also wish that things were like cartoons. So you could have super powers and all that stuff. I mean seriously dragon ball Z would never be the same. And that why cartoons can be cooler than life itself.

Writing With Voice

September 18, 2007 by kleineklein

When we teach writing, we talk to the kids about making sure that their writing has a “voice.” This means that their personality comes through in their writing. I think this journal entry has great voice! I’ve left the spelling, grammar, and punctuation just as he wrote it. I think it adds to the voice. 🙂

Sometimes I wish that there was a kids WWE. I mean it would be awesome and it would be a great way to get some excercise. But seriusly I mean when I just see a bunch of strong men and women beat the heck out of each other then yet again you see a bunch strong men and women say, “I’m gonna win”. what do they find theye’re either pinned to the ground for 3 seconds our out of the ring for 10 seconds. what do they say “I’ll give you give it to me, give it to me.” the guy say no to the wretler gets angry beats up the guy blah blah blah end of story.

Monday Morning Wake-up Song

September 17, 2007 by kleineklein

One of the interesting things about Vienna is the music played on radio stations. In the States, radio stations have a genre that they generally stick with. Not so with Austrian radio. They play the craziest assortment of songs on one station. My clock radio is set to a station that plays oldies, heavy metal, messages from the pope, rap, eighties, R&B, and Top 40. It’s a little strange to hear Elvis, Snoop Dog, and Rammstein on the same playlist. Generally speaking this provides quite a bit of entertainment. Last Monday I woke up to “Manic Monday” by the Bangles. 🙂 This morning I woke up to “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra. Who knows what I’ll wake up to next week!

Quote of the Day

August 28, 2007 by kleineklein

The question:

Tell what the underlined figure of speech means:
Time flew when they were at recess.

Larissa’s explanation to Miguel:
You know, it’s the opposite of what Madonna sings about in “Hung Up.” (insert singing and dancing here) “Time goes so slow.”

Great Scott!

August 26, 2007 by Matt

McFly!One project we did this summer in Plymouth is a Quicktime Virtual Reality Image. My partner and I decided to do a panorama of a nearby traffic circle, though it didn’t stitch together exactly as we hoped. If you look carefully, you can see my feet in the image.

It’s just like in Back to the Future where Marty is playing the guitar and all the sudden realizes that he can’t play so well and that his arms have a translucent quality to them. He looks at his family picture and realizes that he’s almost disappeared complete from the picture.

Well see, this summer I built a time machine and messed up my personal history so I had to get my parents to kiss at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. No, wait, that’s from the movie. It was the University of Tennessee Baptist Student Union Semi Formal. No, no, that wouldn’t work…Baptists don’t dance. It must have been an ice cream social or something. They ordered one milkshake with two straws and lived happily ever after.

Click the picture if you want to see the whole panorama.
