Back to School!

September 2, 2009 by kleineklein

Believe it or not, we are already half way through our second week of school. Last week was a busy week full of new classes and reunions with the kids and families we love so dearly. Matt started running with his cross-country team. This is a huge step in the recovery of his shoulder. Yay! We had our first chapel day for middle school and high school. I get to work with the 6th grade girls during the chapel character class. I’m really excited about this! I love those girls. 🙂 And of course, teaching all of our regular classes. As you can see, things are in full swing.

Please pray:

  • for the staff who are all working extra jobs this year.
  • for the continued work on the visa situation.
  • for the senior class. This is a big year!
  • for the sixth grade girls to learn how to love each other with the love of Christ.
  • for the ongoing staffing needs at the school. (Want to come to Vienna?)

It’s Fun To Stay At The…

August 27, 2009 by Matt

YMCA_Week1
So I realize I’ve been bad about updating you about my shoulder surgery and recovery. And what better way to document my progress than the YMCA (hat tip WG). I know the C is backwards, but the right way doesn’t really demonstrate my lack of mobility.

Long story short:

  • Surgery: Successful
  • Recovery: Slow

I was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder which essentially means an estimated recovery time of 3 months easily doubled. Ugh.

In any case please pray that I will be motivated to do my stretches and that my doctor will be able to hook me up with a good physical therapist.

Stay tuned for weekly updates.

Funny, Silly Faces

August 11, 2009 by kleineklein

The theme this week at I Heart Faces is “Funny, Silly Faces.” I’m entering one of my favorite pictures of my friend Sally. She was the perfect Pippi Longstocking for our celebration of Astrid Lindgren’s 100th birthday!

Benjamin Klein Update

August 10, 2009 by Matt

ben_dadAfter a week of being on and off a feeding tube, my nephew, Benjamin Thomas Klein was able to come home Sunday to some very anxious parents and grandparents.

At the time he went home he weighed 5 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20 inches long.

Thank you for your prayers.

KlopapierQuest: Episode 2

August 6, 2009 by Matt

hakle_puppyOur Toilet Paper Quest continues with Hakle brand Klopapier. If you recall we first tried a brand called Cosy. Their mascot was a cuddly, pink cartoon tiger. Hakle goes with a soft, cuddly puppy. But would it be as soft as a cute little puppy?

Hakle’s slogan is: Deinem Po zuliebe. In English, For the sake of your butt . Seems pretty intense for a toilet paper slogan, though around here we appreciate that kind of commitment. So we’re off to a good start already.po_reise

In addition, the particular package of Klopapier we purchased offered a Reise zum Po, a vacation for your butt. Let me tell you, my butt definitely needs a vacation.

In any case we rated Hakle much higher than Cosy, with Tricia even comparing it favorably to Charmin. This could actually be a viable option for our Klopapier needs. However, we’re not quite done yet.

Will Hakle become the official Klopapier of the Kleins?

Stay tuned for the next episode of KlopapierQuest!
