Here is a recap of the first quarter of our year at ICSV! Enjoy!
ICSV Cross Country Update
ICSV’s Cross Country season is well underway. I have two dedicated runners this year, and we’ve been having a lot of fun! Since there really isn’t an opportunity to run against other schools here, we enter races around the city where they can compete within their age group.
Our first 5K race resulted in one of my runners placing 3rd in her age group, earning a nice little trophy.
Our second race was a bit of an adventure. It was supposed to be 6.6km long, but it turned out that people ended up running different distances. Due to an error on the course, the fastest runners were pointed the wrong direction and only ran 3.6 km. Some others knew the course and ran the correct distance. And then there were the rest of us who ended up running 7.3km. Oops. Despite all this, the team did well, and would have won an award or two if there wasn’t so much confusion about the results.
Stay tuned for more updates and results!
Progressive Dinner
This past Saturday, the Junior Class had a progressive dinner. Each stage of the dinner was in a different home, and their were rules about how the kids could eat their food. Our house was the first stop. The course was appetizers, and the rule was that the students could not feed themselves. It was a lot of fun!

The Class of 2012
Matt and I have joined the class of 2012 – as class sponsors. We are joining our dear friends the Johnstones and the Gardners in this adventure, as well as the Wells who continue to be sponsors in spirit all the way from Ohio. On Tuesday night we had our first class party of the year. We all went to the Johnstone’s to Skype with the Wells and eat delicious food. You can read more about it here: Skype Date. Thankfully Michael took some pictures of the evening, which I totally stole. 🙂
Where Klein Always Shines
So one of my classes was getting tired of the old Stroodle banner(above), and decided to come up with a new one in the 20 minutes they had at the end of class one day.
For those of you(probably all of you) who need definitions:
- Stroodle is Moodle combined with Apple Strudel, a Viennese treat.
- Moodle is a Course Management System.
- A course management system is a web site where I can post class materials and assignments, and students can complete and upload assignments online. Kind of like a virtual classroom.
