Broken Headphones

headphones.

Student: Mrs. Klein! Mrs. Klein! I cannot hear anything. My earphones aren’t working!

Mrs. Klein: They will probably work if you put them on your head.

Student: Oh! Now they are working!

*Note: You must read the students first part with absolute frustration and the second part with a bit of joy.

Robotics Insanity

April 24, 2009 by Matt

insane_robot

Anybody know a good robot shrink?

One of my students received this error message when trying to code her robot.

I’m not exactly sure what the “insane object” is. I know where it’s at (BDHP+2A70), and I know what it’s in (“sumo bot.rbt”) Which means… well, it means I don’t have any idea what this means.

Maybe some rogue programmer is trying to insult one my students. Maybe my robots are taking on emotions and personality, and not in a good way. Because insanity isn’t good…right?

In any case, consider yourself warned.

Mr. Klein, My Red Eye Isn’t Working!

April 23, 2009 by Matt

I’ve been doing a short digital photography unit in one of my classes and today we were working on editing. This led to the following conversation:

Student: Mr. Klein, my red eye isn’t working.

Me: Well, you’ve already made it black and white, so I don’t think the red eye is going to work.

Student: Yeah, but shouldn’t it be making his eyes red?

Christmas Leftovers

Santa_Ho

So I’m not sure if Santa here is making a brash statement or if this is just a clever marketing ploy.

Buy all three to complete the set!

In any case I’m pretty sure I know why Kika has a pile of these left in their bargain bin.

Party Animal

February 15, 2009 by Matt

funny_hat_lady One of the fun things about living in Vienna is New Year’s Eve. People young and old traipse around the city enjoying the live music, wearing funny hats, and maybe even throwing a fire cracker or two.

I’m not usually one to judge fashion, but I’m pretty sure that hat doesn’t go with the fur coat. To each their own, I suppose.

I was sporting a pig hat and my Penn sweatshirt. Much more tasteful if you ask me.
